During our recent trip to Bhutan, we spent 6 nights @ City Hotel Thimphu located literally at the heart of the city, with a spectacular view of the National stadium, temple and the valley. Also if you wanted to go to a vegetable market, it is just about a block away from the Hotel. We used one of their serviced apartments because with two young kids we wanted to cook sometimes. Serviced apartments is specially practical & convenient for travelers with young children and throughout our stay at this beautiful hotel, the staff went way and beyond to help us and make us feel home. This is also a family owned Hotel, every detail on the walls, architecture is fascinating and intriguing, almost every design seem to be carefully hand-picked and looked very traditional and in a Bhutanese way. It was refreshing and the hotel has less of hotel atmosphere but more a home and relaxing feel to it. Personally stayed in a few different hotels in Bhutan before but by far City Hotel Thimphu is way better. We cooked most of meal, and to every need we requested to staff, they were very kind to provide and deliver it with a smile and in a very caring way. Hospitality and care that the staff at City Hotel Thimphu provided to us during our trip we will remember it and we are very grateful to them. One of my own favorites are those beautiful paintings on the walls and well-carved wooden displays at the hotel. If you are traveling to Bhutan, highly recommend City Hotel Thimphu.
